The Summer Break Should Not Go Wasted

(Nor Feel Like a Punishment!)

Without meaningful activities during the summer holidays, kids can easily waste time in front of a screen. This summer, save your child from staring at a smartphone...

...and give them an experience of a lifetime at De Yin School’s Summer Camp.

Our Programme

Classical Chinese Dance

  • Boost your child’s confidence and athletic ability through Classical Chinese Dance—a 5,000-year-old art form inspired by traditional martial arts movements.
  • Our story-based dances develop children’s emotional expression through movement, helping them manage their emotions.
  • Through fun, theatrical dances, children experience the profound inner meaning of Traditional Chinese Culture, growing in virtues like cooperation, courage, kindness, and perseverance.

Drama

  • De Yin’s drama mini-course gives children practical experience in acting, fostering their creativity and self-assurance.
  • Students will work on their body language, vocal projection, and overall delivery, instilling foundational public speaking & performance skills.
  • The final drama performance on the last day of the camp will give children a tangible goal to work for as a team, unfolding their talents while having tonnes of fun!

Chinese Language and Culture

  • Our highly engaging teaching style—filled with stories, historical references, and games—will introduce children to the essential elements of Mandarin, inspiring them to fall in love with the language & Chinese culture.
  • Calligraphy: students will learn how to write Traditional Chinese characters using the inkstone and brush; a traditional way to acquire peaceful concentration while warding off impatience and irritation.
  • Through studying poems of the Tang and Song Dynasties along with classic stories, students will expand their horizons and understand how to follow traditional Chinese values—like honesty, kindness, resilience, conscientiousness, good manners, magnanimity—in their everyday life.

Traditional Arts & Crafts

  • Creating Chinese works of art like paper-cuttings, painting, and pattern plate craft, will help students develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
  • Our arts & crafts programme will not only help students appreciate traditional Chinese thought, but also encourage selfexpression, creativity and flexibility.
  • Most craftwork can be achieved in more than one way, teaching students they can achieve the same result through a different method.

Final Performance

  • Students will have a tangible goal to work for during the camp. They will perform and showcase their work to parents & teachers on the final day (Performance Day).
  • Children will dance, recite poems or act on the stage.
  • Guests & parents are invited to Alexandra Park School on Friday, 16th of August, 2024 for the Performance Day.
