About De Yin School
De Yin School is a bilingual Chinese school for 4 to 12-year-old children from various cultural backgrounds.
Our Mandarin Chinese classes for children in London provide a lovely environment to master the language while learning more about the profound traditional Chinese culture, Chinese history, and traditional Chinese moral values.
Traditional Chinese culture and its moral values are very important components in our teaching.
The De Yin School students are not only taught Mandarin but are also inspired to respect and care for others, be honest, and have a positive, upright and resilient attitude in life.
Every year, we also set up a summer camp programme for children and teens. We create an immersive learning experience of the Chinese culture & language that’s unforgettable and often life-changing.
Meet Our Teachers

Ying Adams
Head Teacher
Mrs. Adams has more than 30 years of experience in teaching Mandarin classes for kids both in China and across the UK. She developed De Yin School’s textbooks and teaching methodology. She currently trains our teachers and also teaches Mandarin at King Edward VI Grammar School and Chelmsford County High School for Girls.

Say Soon Ooi
Head Teacher
Say is our head teacher. A few years ago, he suffered an unexpected illness that turned his life upside down. Dejected by the modern way of life, he looked for a solution in tradition. He recovered fully after practising Traditional Chinese Qi-Gong while studying Classical Chinese poetry and literature. Realising the wisdom behind the teachings, he aspires to teach children those same values & principles that transformed his life.

Susanna Rodriguez
Teacher
Susanna has been teaching Chinese for over a decade both in schools and privately. She came from a family of teachers—her grandfather was a professor in both ancient and modern Chinese who had always taught her about the traditional Chinese culture since she was a child. She’s very passionate about the culture and enjoys sharing it with people immensely—children in particular.

Joy Duguid
Storyteller
Joy has a long teaching career in the UK. She loves traditional Chinese culture and its meaningful, thought-provoking stories. Through storytelling, she teaches children traditional values, captivating their imagination. She inspires them to apply those wonderful principles in daily life.

Natalia Nutting
Storytelling Teacher
Natalia is a professional storyteller, actress, and teacher trainer. As a child, she struggled to speak and express herself. This made her introverted and lonely. Until she discovered the power of drama and oral storytelling. Now, for the last 3 decades, she has used the power of drama and oral storytelling in education to empower children to have a voice and gain the confidence to express themselves.
